The WOW Team
Ronni McGlenn, Founder
Ronni is the founder of Washington Outdoor Women. Laying the groundwork in 1997, she began what she describes as her most memorable project: she founded WOW in 1998 and served as its Director for 21 years. With her background in education and teaching, WOW seemed the natural path to connect women with positive outdoor experiences via hands-on skills education. Her pro-active belief in outdoor skills training for all generations continues to reinforce the WOW program’s mission. She and her family have solid Northwest roots and a strong commitment to sustainability, habitat/wildlife conservation, and outdoor education. Ronni is the recipient of the 2011 Governor’s Recognition Award and the 2018 Karen M. Fant Founder’s award.
Lori Johnson, Director
Lori is the current Director of Washington Outdoor Women. Lori started as a weekend workshop participant in 2005, attending workshops for 4-years before joining the volunteer team of coordinators in 2009. In addition to serving on the team as the scholarship administrator and with digital support and on-site logistics, Lori taught Soap Making and was a co-instructor for the Kayaking course.
Lori has served as the founding director of the Washington State Food Truck Association since 2015. Lori is a beekeeper in Whatcom County and enjoys all outdoor activities, especially kayaking and trail hiking with her husband and yellow lab, and has grown up in Western Washington. Based on Lori’s enthusiasm, history, and passion for supporting other women looking to improve their confidence in the outdoors, she is well-suited for this position.
